Happy Chinese New Year (‘Kung Hei Fat Choi’) from Swire Hotels

The Upper House and The Opposite House in Hong Kong and Beijing respectively are celebrating the 2012 Chinese Lunar New Year – the year of the Water Dragon.  A powerful icon, the Dragon traditionally served as a symbol of the Chinese Emperor’s imperial power.  Following a year of caution signified by the year of the Rabbit in 2011, the energy, vitality and spirit of the Dragon should bring a welcome change – and with any luck, success and happiness too.

In the spirit of New Year’s resolutions, don’t miss the opportunity to try the unique and exciting experiences that Swire Hotels are offering.  The Upper House has a tour through a traditional Hong Kong wet market with the Chef from their restaurant Café Gray Deluxe.  Learn how to source fresh fish, organic vegetables and fruits and find out how they are used and cooked locally, followed by a wine pairing dinner and a two night stay.

Alternatively, discover the ancient capital of Beijing from an exciting new viewpoint, that of a motorcycle sidecar.  The Opposite House organises an experienced guide to navigate this classic vehicle through the narrow Hutongs and traditional courtyard residences of Beijing, in order to reveal the true heart of the city.
